Concrete Fire Features
The well-known fire resistant properties of concrete make it a
perfect surface for fire features. hearths, mantels, surrounds,
fire tables and more can becreated with cast concrete or other
substrates can be coated with a decorative concrete overlay.

Cast Concrete Hearth and Overlayed Surround Mountain Shaped Wood Stove Surround Overlayed Woodstove Surround, Hearth and Entry Floor Mountain Dry Stack and Faux Bois
This custom hearth was cast in a lightweight concrete, coated with a textured cement overlay colored to harmonize with the existing stone and sealed for protection. A mold was custom fabricated on site to suggest a thick slab of broken rock. This photo shows more detail of the irregular shape and the natural coloration of the hearth in the previous photo. The fireplace surround (left) to the left was fabricated in two parts so that the inner surround could be removed in the event the fireplace insert needs to be replaced. The surround was fabricated in cement board, coated with textured cement and colored to match the kitchen counter and table surfaces in the open floor plan. The hearth was cast-in-place with a lightweight concrete, coated, colored and sealed to match the surround. The custom pellet stove surround and hearth was fabricated with cement board cut to represent the mountains, coated with textured cement, colored and sealed for protection. The materials are safe to use in proximity to the pellet stove.
The Woodstove surround and hearth were fabricated with cement board, coated with textured cement, colored to harmonoze with newly selected fabrics and sealed. The hearth and floor were over plywood and the surround replaced an old brick surround.
This sample is textured cement on cement board stamped and colored to represent mountain dry stack with a faux bois header. This vertical application can be used on any wall or as a fireplace surround. The coating can be applied inside or out at depths from 1/2 inch to 3 inches thick and custom-carved.
